Job Description:

The Senior Research Scientist is an expert synthetic chemist with 0-5 years of postdoctoral experience, preferably in a process chemistry setting. The primary role of this position is in developing new routes to Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients(API’s) and developing processes with the goal of implementation in a manufacturing setting. The following demonstrable skills and experiences will be highly valuable:


Qualifications/Required Experience:

  • MSc/PhD in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry
  • Design novel synthetic routes to active pharmaceutical ingredients
  • Good understanding of drug discovery & development process

Scientist / Sr. Scientist, Analytical Chemistry – Full time

Position Summary:

Laurus is seeking an experienced Scientist / Sr. Scientist to step into a senior role within the Organic Chemistry department and provide technical expertise to the Process Research and development team.


Key Duties:

Core job responsibilities includeHPLC method development, operation and optimization of analytical / preparative LC instrumentation, efficient method development and transfer for purification and analysis of a variety of molecules:

  • Performs independent hands-on experimental work utilizing HPLC, GC, LCMS, mass spectrometry, preparative chromatography and other analytical techniques
  • Performs HPLC method development and sample analysis and interpretation of data from analytical instrumentation.
  • Utilize understanding of a range of analytical techniques to conduct research and development studies related to small-molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients, intermediates, starting materials, impurities and impurity profiling.
  • Independently perform experiments and complex tasks such as unknown impurity identification, material characterization and reverse engineering studies.
  • Chromatographic separation of Degradant, impurities from the drug product
  • Working knowledge of reagent stability and storage; for performing instrument preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration; and awareness of the factors that influence test results.
  • Communicates conclusions from analytical results.
  • Prepares reagents, quality control, and calibration samples.
  • Operates, calibrates, and maintains laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.

Key Qualifications:

  • PhD in analytical chemistry or related field with 5+ years of experience in drug discovery environments, or MS with 10+ years of experience
  • Highly knowledgeable and skilled in utilization of mass spectrometry (LC/MS, MS/MS and chromatographic (HPLC/GC) techniques in small and preparative scale.
  • Expertise with DSC, TGA, FTIR, KF and wet chemistry based analytical techniques

Job Description:

Responsible for leading the business development activities in the US east coast major focus MA for NCE API, SMs, Intermediates development and manufacturing:

  • Identification of new sales opportunities through direct customer contacts, conferences, web site inquires, cold calls etc.,
  • Develop strategies and tactics to gain new business
  • Achieve PO targets for key accounts and new accounts.
  • Record progress of BD activities and provide regular updates to management.
  • Collects and utilizes various data sources to provide competitive intelligence, tracking and analysis of the competitive landscape in assigned locations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Required Experience:

  • BA/BS/MS/PhD in Life Science (preferably in Chemistry related field), Business, Marketing or related Technical degree, or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in chemical or pharmaceutical development and/or manufacturing. Experience in CRO, CMO or API development and manufacturing organization is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in selling life sciences / pharmaceutical services SMs, intermediates, and NCEs sales
  • Must have a proven track record of success meeting or exceeded goals/targets. Experience successfully navigating large matrixes organizations. Experience developing new accounts through various prospecting tactics.
  • Proven experience in creating successful business development plans and processes. Marketing experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills both in verbal and in writing.
